In the face of massive overspending and lower tax collection due to revenue projections imagined by large groups of legislators who couldn't run a lemonade stand, Governor Ritter has awarded a discretionary day off to state employees for use prior to the end of the year.
This information which was reported on the Face the State website and has resulted in some slack-jawed shock on the part of Republican lawmakers.
There is some suspicion this is a continuing effort to curry favor from the state employee unions which have been large supporters of Democrat candidates across the state e.g. Bernie Buescher.
Potential cost to the State-$ 4.62 Million
