Some folks have mentioned that they were receiving automated calls concerning the passage of the city's $98 million building request and Tabor release.
Now I have received two of these phone calls, one apparently from an "Officer Gold" urging support and mentioning that there would be a number of new officers hired to combat the apparent 80% rise in crime in Grand Junction.
This all comes as news to many.
Shortly thereafter I received an automated call supporting the building of the new fire stations and indicating that response times would be lowered and that 40 some odd new firefighters would be hired.
Once again the personnel request did not seem to be part of the original capital construction budget so this is a confusing message. I'm not exactly sure what's going on or who is responsible for the calls.
Autodialers are by their nature a two-edged sword and all of this information about personnel additions seems to be something left out of the present referendum
