Energy Freedom Day Could Be Coming October 1 -- If Congress Doesn't Stop It
Many do not understand that the present moratorium on offshore drilling is due to expire of its own volition on October 1.
The present Democrat controlled Congress, which the Daily Sentinel correctly pointed out is the least productive Congress in modern times, is too afraid to vote on lifting the moratorium and is probably afraid to vote to reinstate it.
If the presidential race continues to tighten and McCain continues to look like he may lead, then the Democrats in Congress are going to become very excitable about this issue by the middle of September.
They will be forced to take some sort of stand and have the dual fears of their constituents angry at them for capping supplies and handing a Republican president a tailor-made issue to use against them.
With their approval rating hovering around 16%-- almost half of President Bush's low approval rating expect to see a lot of chickens flying the coop in three weeks if the events continue to trend as they have been over the last two.
