Newspaper Shows Understanding and Support for Animal Shelter

I recently was critical of the Daily Sentinel for what I felt was overly harsh treatment of our animal shelter's paperwork compliance.

I confessed to them that I am easily riled over issues involving our pets and wildlife and was therefore sensitive to the issue of helping the organization not only survive but thrive.

I'm sure that may come as a surprise to some that think only those with less conservative notions have a monopoly on compassion. I however, believe this topic crosses political and social boundaries, which is what makes it an important and cohesive subject, the like of which we need more of not less.

I can say that I received a thoughtful response from those that decide what will be printed with their increasingly expensive paper and ink. While I may not be in total agreement with the tenor of the story I came away at least understanding that its intentions were not meant to be damaging.

Thursday, the paper published a supportive and more illuminating position on the shelters technical problems and their correction. And since I got up on my high horse to complain, I want to give credit where credit is due.

I'm encouraged and gratified to see the outpouring of this support from the community and media and as the owner of an abandoned kitten who is even now in the process of attacking every piece of furniture in our home -- I couldn't be happier.
