We have to admit we were a bit surprised when the Palisade Town Administrator Tim Sarmo was reported as a contributor to Democrat candidate Bernie Buscher's campaign.Link here.
While individuals may give whatever they wish, normally high-ranking city and county employees are encouraged to remain a bit disconnected from political fray.
Palisade especially has a number of strong Republican precincts that will probably take a position adverse to Mr. Sarmo's contribution so why create a problem when city ministration presents enough challenges.
So we were doubly surprised to see a posting of a press release from Alice Madden's campaign in Boulder citing Mr. Sarmo in support and as a contact point on the press releases position of berating oil companies and their profits. (Our Thanks to Alert Reader Who Notified Us)
This seems especially uncomfortable as the Town of Palisade has been active in watershed concerns and the oil and gas community.
One wonders if this is reflective of the official position of the town of Palisade as the town administrator's title is used in the press release and the contact phone number is the Town of Palisade. Link to press release here.
