Poll: Michele Bachmann in for tight fight - Alex Isenstadt - POLITICO.com

"With Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann facing a widening campaign finance probe, her Democratic challenger is out with a new poll showing him in a close race with the conservative firebrand."

I hope there was a lesson learned from Allen West's defeat in Florida. Bachmann is a conservative favorite in a largely blue state, not even a purple one like Florida. The Democrats have gone after her hammer and tongs every two years and it's beginning to have an effect.

Unlike West, she has built a strong base in her district and not suffered terribly from redistricting. West got pulled out of his district into national issues before he had solidified his organization in his home district. That district was then changed as a result of the 2010 census and huge amounts of money were poured into defeating him while he was off balance.

Bachmann's problems are going to be blasted across her district by unfriendly news organizations and big-money Democrat outside groups. Getting her would allow them to say that the Tea Party movement was functionally moribund, so they want her gone badly. She needs to stay home, work her district and worry about 2014… Ed
