PROVIDING KNOWLEDGE AND INSIGHT FOR THOSE RIDING DRAGON SHIPS ON THE SEAS OF CULTURE AND POLITICS
A Brief Comment on What We've Seen Here With the Tea Party Movement
Last night, we had about 110 people come out in the cold during the holiday season to talk about their community and their country. People showed up at City Hall here in Grand Junction to hear a couple of interesting speakers but I think they mostly came to see each other and feel a common bond.
You can call it whatever you like, a tea party movement, a 9/12 movement or just a reflection of the periodic rise in populism that seems to be the American reaction to heavy-handed government.
Since many on the far left fear the awakening of the American public to the deteriorating state of their liberty, the movement is often at first dismissed and when it does not disappear, derided and eventually vilified.
The latest tactic has been to declare that this populist grassroots movement will divide conservatives and Republicans in such a way as to confuse their message and direct the movements actions back upon itself, allowing just the type of politicians that it had organized to remove; to continue on.
I think this is possible but unlikely, if for no other reason than the current crop of officeholders in many cases is so sad and out of touch with the producers of America they will continue to so inflame these people to the point that they will have a common enough goal to be able to put aside their differences.
They have the sense to realize that we are at a critical point and this may be their last best chance to protect and preserve the things that have made, keep and will provide greatness to America.
