"Godzilla Must Be Stopped!" Another in a Seemingly Unending Parade of Blunders

Actually this comment has nothing to do with Godzilla but I thought it made a nice visual image of a dimwitted creature smashing around while a helpless population wonders what to do next.

Many undoubtedly read yesterdays Daily Sentinel story regarding the plunging sales tax revenue available to the city of Grand Junction and their surprise at its drop which was further than expected or predicted.

Now let's throw our minds back over the last two to three years to all of the similar stories about sales tax revenue going up... faster than expected or predicted. So essentially whomever is anticipating the sales tax revenue for the city is unable to determine if it's going to go up or down or by how much and have been unable to do so for quite some time.

In a normal private sector business this would not be thought of as a successful performance.
I also might point out that the messenger of this news often seems to be not the one who makes the "predictions" but seems to be stuck with conveying this joyless news to local media.

I have always found many competent and hard-working employees at the city and feel quite a bit of empathy for the messenger status.

One point that we might be able to achieve from this is that predictions about the cost of buildings, services or pretty much anything else offered by this administration seems to fall into the category of speculation and can only further tend to erode whatever public trust remains in their financial acumen.
