Obama selected a mirror image of himself in Sonia Sotomayor to go to the Supreme Court. In one of the least surprising moves in decades, President Obama has nominated a judge that manages to check off all of the boxes of the left-wing template for activist justices.
As a bonus she's been chastised for ignoring constitutional principles and interjecting her personal opinions into judicial opinion. So pretty much what we have expected from a nominee who sees her position as that of a policymaker rather than a judicial interpreter.
The president of course, did this nomination while Congress was not in session so Republicans could have little comment in the DC area while he had alerted his allies to begin singing the song he has written, chief among them the foghorn of New York, Charles Schumer.
The media makeover of the judge has already been undertaken as they push her back story far ahead of her judicial dismissiveness towards litigants with whom she disagrees.
Unfortunately for the nation, long after Obama's failed presidency she or whomever eventually fails this position will be continuing to make policy (of course we mean, fairly deciding legal cases) for decades.
