As most of you know, the Secretary of State position for Colorado became open with the election of Mike Coffman to Congress. As the Governor is able to choose an interim replacement there is the usual group of term limited and losing politicians who want to continue to ride the train to a government paycheck.
Term limited former state Senator Ken Gordon has taken his begging to the Web by asking individuals to visit a website and "vote" for who they think would be a good Secretary of State candidate.
The fact that he is acting like finding a job in the private sector is the government equivalent of being boiled in oil should probably disqualify him from consideration.
We have a similar losing politician on our side of the mountain in the form of Mr. Buescher who has expressed an interest in every government job that has reared its head since the last vote was counted in his this election.
He would apply for the position of Chancellor of the Exchequer if we had such a thing whether he knew what it was or not.
But to be fair, this is not an individual problem but arises in most of these characters who spend far too long frolicking at the public trough.
Speaking of those who enjoy frolicking, term limited dilettante Andrew Romanoff is probably the leading contender for the Secretary of State position with Gordon coming in a tight second.
On the Western front Mr. Buescher is probably dashing numerous letters off to the Obama administration beseeching them to appoint John Salazar to Secretary of Agriculture. The fact that he is even less suited to this job than the one he presently holds is emblematic of the promotion to the highest level of inefficiency theory of most government.
The possibility that we could have good old Bernie jumping back and forth through hoops on behalf of the Washington elite is funny and sad.
However, it probably would mean a substantial chance for the Republicans to take the seat back in the next special election -- assuming of course, they find a decent candidate.
