We've been reading some of the emotionally charged writings lately about the drastic and horrible loss the Western slope of Colorado now is enduring at the legislature because of the voters rejection of Mr. Buescher.
All of these fainting spells are pretty much confined to the liberal media and some of their more emotionally unstable followers. The fact is, the last election showed Western Colorado be the tidal wall as the storm raged and surged and eventually fell back a little lower than it came.
That's mainly because people on the Western slope have a better idea about where their paychecks and their way of life come from; they don't think their hamburger comes shrink-wrapped in the cooler, their electricity from a couple holes in the wall or their paychecks with a government symbol on them.
A lot of people here come home every night bone tired and dirty from earning a living and they are not real anxious to sacrifice their hard earned money for cockamamie schemes or lose the best paying jobs they've had in years because some character gets mad when they see a Halliburton truck.
People here are smart enough to know that it takes more than just oil and gas to build a future for the energy of our country but they're also smart enough to know that you don't do it by turning the United States into a 2 1/2 world country where people don't ride bicycles for exercise but because they have to get somewhere faster than walking.
Colorado is about to find itself in the midst of a new rejuvenation and finally it's going to come from the West and not be fired over the mountains from the East.
We have our own leadership and it's not beholding to Denver union bosses, environmental wackos from Boulder or an education lobby is that would rather spend our tax dollars feathering their own nests instead of teaching students how to build their's.
The way to leadership is simple -- we move forward and by we I don't mean just Republicans I mean everyone who realizes that you never tax yourself to prosperity and common sense is an uncommon virtue.
The best way to get attention and respect from the Eastern Bloc in the legislature is through building our own strength, not adding to their dominance.
