Mere days after announcing his return to the volunteer arena; former house district representative Bernie Buescher has has decided he has done enough and is going to seek appointment from Wild Bill Ritter to the vacated job of Secretary of State. This might give the Governor a way to get his sturdy minion of the Western slope over to where he so desires.
Firmly ensconced behind the tinfoil curtain of the Eastern bloc of Colorado.
There is some stiff competition from other unemployed politicians in the form of former Speaker Andrew Romanoff and almost 20 others capering around to be appointed to the position. Buescher has pointed out that he believes his experience as a lawyer will be of some help in the job.
We don't don't know if he has forgotten that Romanoff is also a lawyer and also unemployed, or functionally so.
With all these lawyers in a fight we can count on it being dirty and someone filing a writ or something if they don't get the job.
With Romanoff and Buescher both trying for the job it should be pretty interesting; like watching two hungry poodles fight over a grilled cheese sandwich.
One thing for sure is that the Secretary of State's job is an important one and whomever the Governor manages to select needs to be watched very carefully that they don't try to emulate the Secretary of State's office in Minnesota, where a flurry of ballot box stuffing is attempting to put Al Franken into the job of Senator.
