Just to show that those NRA memberships do matter, the U.S.House is passing legislation that will require Washington D.C. to adopt regulations consistent with the Supreme Court's decision in Heller.
It's not that a lot of this bunch doesn't want to disarm you- it's just that the election is a lot tighter than they thought it would be and they need support; or at least not opposition.

Just remember to help your guns learn to make good choices and set early curfews for them and they should turn out fine.
