Wedding Bells May Be Breaking up That Old Gang of Theirs -- California Gay Marriages May Be Important Issue In State and National Races

The recent gleeful hubbub of most of the mainstream media and barely watched cable news outlets (MSNBC) may be the last thing that Democrat candidates want to see a few months out from Election Day.

The reason is that the California Supreme Court's ruling mandating gay marriage in California comes at a time that Democrat leaders on the national level and state level do not wish to give conservatives a rallying point.

Unfortunately it's too late.

Not only is it happening but serious questions about the validity of these marriages in the surrounding states are about to arise. Are they to be recognized as legal unions in the state of Colorado?

Perhaps we should ask some of our elected representatives or those seeking those offices what they think?
Some will be happy to answer that question, others will be substantially and understandably unavailable or reluctant. No matter whether some wish to deal with it or not- deal with it they must.

How long does anyone realistically think it is going to be before a couple of the same sex, legally married in California comes to Colorado seeking benefits either from the government or private employer.

Or perhaps they have a falling out and wish to be divorced in the Colorado courts and their property decided upon by the states existing procedures involving domestic relations. Trust us, if you try and ignore it and have no legislation in place it will not get better and no answer will fall out of the sky.

So it's time to ask our representatives what they think about all this and what solution, if any, should be applied to this constitutional riddle.
