Senate Forced to Privatize Food-Service-- They're Only Losing 1.2 Million a Year

Many of you may have heard that the Senate, after many years of losing money, 15 to be exact is now being forced by its dire financial situation to privatize (that is let a business run) the Senate cafeteria conglomerate.

The service which has lost $18 million since 1993 and subsidized with public money will now go into the hands of a private contractor.

What is not being widely reported is that the House cafeteria group was placed in private hands when the Republicans had control of the House; is showing a profit.

There was a tremendous amount of resistance from the Democrat caucus toward the idea of turning the restaurant over to a private company. How far we have come when it is a object of argument to let something that millions of small businesses run privately be operated for the convenience of elected representatives.

The government management apparently has only added 20 menu items over the last 15 years while consistently losing money.

So with this type of track record it is obvious that the government should take over your medical care.

None of this should bother you unless you are one of the rare individuals that thinks you might need access to the health care system in the next few years.
