Mark Your Calendars for This Tuesday As the Commissar's Of Colorado Gas Regulation Hold a Hearing -- Approach Humbly, Do Not Make Direct Eye Contact

So it looks like Tuesday is going to be a big day at Two Rivers Convention Center here in Grand Junction as Governor Ritter's newly anointed oil and gas rulemaking commission holds a all day "public input hearing"; to seek advice on the fastest way to paralyze Colorado's economy.

If they further penalize working people throughout the United States by not allowing energy to be tapped in the Western part of Colorado or anywhere else in Colorado, that's just frosting on the cake.

I will be eagerly anticipating the arrival of the supporters of teepee living as they arrive to testify via their pogo sticks, hybrids and moonbeams. Some may even be dressed in formfitting bicycle racing gear, spunkily and doggedly peddling their way to stop the onslaught of the machine and the tyranny of "the Man".

Unfortunately for them, they may not be alone. There is some chatter that people that have jobs during the day and work in the oil fields may show up.

Now we know that the commission's seldom likes to hear from the people directly affected by their decisions which is why they try and have the meetings when those people are at work.

After all, some of them are dirty and drive trucks, I have even heard shockingly, that some of them may even... hunt and eat meat!

As we have previously noted, many believe that the commission is on the way to overstepping even their broad powers in connection with interstate commerce and the revenue generating ability of the Indian nations.

My answer to those quibbles is simple: But What of Mother Gaia! That's right, the Earth -- who speaks for the trees if not the huggers?

So if you're interested in maintaining a good economy or just like a good carnival show be sure and show up Tuesday for the matinee.

I don't believe Cinema at the Avalon is showing anything that day so most of us can attend -- I'm sure by this weekend they will return to their usual fare of shows about penguins and how they cause global warming.
