Outgoing Legislator Leaves Some Advice -- No It's Not "I'll Fly Away"

Outgoing Senate majority leader Ken Gordon who is now term limited left some advice for incoming members.

While I think that it should probably be don't propose 90% of the type of legislation I did during my tenure it was still gentlemanly and appropriate.

One of the bits that struck this writer was: "If you abuse the process in order to prevent minority party members from accomplishing anything that reflects the values of their constituents, then you create a deep and bitter resentment. This resentment will come back to haunt you in myriad ways. Abuse of the process does not show strength. It shows weakness" (quoted from the Colorado Capitol Insider -- Capitol West)

Good advice for members of either party when they are in the majority. A nice way for Senator Gordon to take his leave.
