PROVIDING KNOWLEDGE AND INSIGHT FOR THOSE RIDING DRAGON SHIPS ON THE SEAS OF CULTURE AND POLITICS
Obscure Online Sentinel Section Worth a Look
Under the news section drop down menu on the Daily Sentinel's online site is a destination worth a periodic visit for our readers.
The section is called Immigration Hotline and is sort of a news section/blog about immigration and the US-Mexico relationship.
These are usually posted from a Cox news reporter who I believe lives in Mexico and sometimes contains important or revealing bits of information.
In the latest posting which is accessible by clicking here, the discussion centers around an attempt by our own Congressman Tom Tancredo to hold up foreign aid to Mexico of approximately $500 million until it can be determined that the money will not be misdirected to criminal organizations.
This bit of common sense was of course voted down with the present congressional structure.
It is nonetheless interesting and disappointing in equal measure. The Merida initiative as this bit of foreign succor has been labeled has met with controversy on a few other fronts.
The question your editor has is if we are providing foreign aid to Mexico why aren't they selling us Mexican oil in greater quantity? We're just wondering why we continue to help those that don't seem very interested in helping us.
