Big Out-Of-State Special Interests Target Schaffer-- Once Again, No Media Hubbub

As we've seen on prior occasions, when big out-of-state interests target conservative candidate's, it gets a pass in the mainstream media. You can read the story here from the Rocky Mountain News, or at least it's reported although not too aggressively.

I believe the only reason it's reported at all is because these folks have taken a rather large ad out on the Rocky Mountain News website.

If you click here you can probably still see the cartoon ad at the top of the Rocky's page.

There can be little doubt that the Democrats are getting nervous about the Udall candidacy.

The smear campaign to label Udall a Boulder liberal has been largely successful since he is 1. From Boulder and 2. an avowed liberal.

And while Mr. Schaffer does not exactly convey that lightning in a bottle quality we would all like to see in a candidate; he still is miles ahead in campaign personality over Mr. Udall, who looks startlingly similar to John Kerry but without the animation.

Whether or not all of the money being poured into helping the Udall campaign to help secure a large enough majority in the Senate to get things done in the same ramrod way that can be done in the House will be effective; remains to be seen.

This election cycle shows more Republican seats in the hazard than Democrat; but the next cycle in two years probably will be the opposite. If there is a Democrat President it becomes much more likely that the Democrats in the Senate will find themselves threatened as is often the case when one party controls two of the three branches.

So far however, the worst enemy that the Senate Democrats have are the House Democrats who's just plain buffoonery have given the Congress one of the lowest ratings by the public-- ever.

I have noted much mention by liberal bloggers and letter writers of Mr. Bush's popularity but none pointing out the fact that the Democrat Congress is, in the best of polls, four points below him.
