Spitzer Resigns -- Schumer Sets Unofficial Record
Today New York Governor Eliot Spitzer resigns to be replaced by Lt. Governor Paterson.
Many on Wall Street see the irony of his illegal actions being discovered as a result of the sort of clumsy financial manipulations that he was so zealous to prosecute as Attorney General in waiting to be Governor.
In making comments on the story, the unusually reticent Senator Charles Schumer -- Democrat New York, became so vague at times it was difficult to discern the topic of the news conference.
In an impressive showing of repetition, Senator Schumer managed to use the phrase "move forward" more times than your editor has heard used in two paragraphs at any point in time.
He also seemed incapable of using the words scandal or crime which usually pop up constantly in his discussions of Republican lawmakers.
We all remember how eager he was to move forward at the height of the Larry Craig situation.
