Endangered Species, Liberal Mesa County Legislator Receives More Protection-You Know, Like the Spotted Owl But Without The Vision

We thought we would wait to see how and where this important story on the "redirection" of funds under the property tax hike would be reported in our neck of the woods. Well now we know. Here is how the openly partisan but more clear Colorado Senate News dealt with the story:

"Democrat budget chief says tax hike--once pledged to schools--will fund other programs, too"

"The chairman of the powerful Joint Budget Committee has acknowledged on the record that a sweeping statewide property-tax hike pushed through last year by his fellow Democrats will subsidize new social programs--not just schools, as originally promised.

Democrat Bernie Buescher, of Grand Junction, said in a JBC meeting this week that some of the millions raised by the controversial tax hike will be used on Democrat Gov. Bill Ritter's "Building Blocks" program expanding low-income health care coverage." Rest of the story here

Unfortunately, local outlets, who treat our lonely Democrat like the endangered spotted owl, were less clear on BB's position as the head of the budget committee responsible for this and other fiscal fandangos as well as the person apparently making the announcement.

The impacts from this tax increase and the games now being played with it are only beginning.

You lay down with liberals; you get up with taxes.
