Slow Pitch Bill Calls It Quits -- Richardson Pulls Out Of Democrat Presidential Race

New Mexico Governor, Ambassador and former Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson has folded his tent and slowly trudges back to the Land of Enchantment.

It is with some degree of sadness that this page sees "Slow Pitch" Bill head for the dugout. He has been so desperately trying to be something on the national stage yet again. Clearly, the office of Governor in remote New Mexico just isn't enough -- how you gonna keep them down on the farm after they've seen DC.

I say some sadness since Slow Pitch is responsible for one of the greatest political explanations in the last 20 years. Bill had long claimed on his resume, that he had been drafted by the Kansas City Athletics, professional baseball team.

When confronted by the Albuquerque newspaper that this was not true his response was the wonderful quote of " After being notified of the situation and after researching the matter ... I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A's,". The full story is available by clicking on the headline to this posting.
So we bid a fond adieu to Slow Pitch Bill, as he waits in Santa Fe for the call to be vice president, secretary of something or the other; anything really, maybe even ambassador again if it's to somewhere really cool.
