Dim Bulb Approach of Paper Ballots Pushed by Guv-Will Cost Counties Real Money, of Course it is Local Government Money so Who Cares?

Counties in Colorado are scrambling to figure out how to pay for using paper ballots in this years primary and general election. In a contest to see who is more out of touch with County Clerks and budget constraints Secretary of State Mike Coffman and Governor Ritter are trying to force legislation that will require costly paper ballots in place of Electronic voting machines. First the counties are encouraged to spend a big chunk of money on electronic voting then they have to find the money and come up with a new plan to use paper. The legislation is making it's way through the legislature right now.

"Mesa County Clerk Janice Rich, said Gov. Bill Ritter is pushing the idea of paper ballots. “That is being bulldozed right through the Legislature and probably will pass,” Rich said."
