Ice curbs drivers on 7th Street

If it’s snowing Christmas eve, Santa Claus may want to avoid the Seventh Street roundabout.

After the barrage of snow that hit the Grand Valley this week, a vehicle, or perhaps several different vehicles, hit nearly every curb of the newly built Seventh Street roundabout.

Curbs were chipped, walls were scuffed with white and blue paint, a hub cap and what appeared to be parts of a muffler were left behind. Tire tracks dug deep into the mud of an unplanted flower bed on the south side of the roundabout.

None of the damage was reported to Grand Junction’s Public Works’ department as of 3 p.m. Friday, said Kristin Winn, spokeswoman for the city.

We have, unfortunately, people who do damage to any number of places in the city,” Winn said.

She added that some curb damage had occurred during construction, and the city is expecting the contractor to fix it.
