Colorado Interest groups like dumb politicians

It used to be that we wanted smart people in politics; at least, we acted like we did. But that clearly is no longer the case. And we are not talking about George Bush since despite the portrayal in the popular press, old George actually had slightly better grades in college than old “Reminiscent of Genghis Khan” Kerry. Both solid C students with one of Sen. Kerry’s best grades being in French, where I’m certain he found many useful phrases, the most important probably being: “Estes-vous riche? M’epouseriz-vour?” Roughly translated to: “Are you rich? Will you marry me?” It would be nice if many of these folks who complain of lawmakers with actual experience would reveal themselves and their motives a little more clearly. Their anti-worker approach to public governance is revealed in their confusing adherence to policy that is at odds with itself.

On one hand, many of these groups wish to see a higher minimum wage yet are opposed to any industry that might actually provide it. They purport to be for the worker but don’t want them to earn enough money to be able to provide adequately for his family or educate his children. And as we have pointed out before, you don’t often send your children to a nice college by selling fishing lures and backpacks to the new arrivals that want to keep western Colorado their private park.
